Ford’s Garage Revs Up Richmond with Its First Virginia Restaurant

New immersive dining experience promises vintage atmosphere, car memorabilia, all-American comfort food classics and more

RICHMOND, VA. (Nov. 15, 2024) – Ford’s Garage, the popular themed restaurant known for its premium burgers, ice-cold brews and vintage atmosphere inspired by the heritage of the Ford Motor Company, will open its first Virginia location in Richmond on Monday, Nov. 18. The flagship Virginia restaurant will serve the Richmond-area from its 7,700-square-foot location at 11275 West Broad Street in Short Pump.

Ford’s Garage Short Pump features branding and memorabilia exclusively licensed by the Ford Motor Company to recreate the look and feel of a 1920s service station. The restaurant’s unique elements include everything from vintage vehicles, authentic gas pumps and car-part fixtures and accessories, to an unexpected fan-favorite feature – the bathroom –which is designed with sinks crafted from tires and fuel pump nozzles. To complete the effect, servers wear mechanic shirts, onion rings are served on an automotive funnel and napkins are made from blue shop towels.

Owner of the Short Pump eatery, Steve Israel, co-opened the first Ford’s Garage in 2012 in Fort Myers, Florida. At the time, Israel was simply filling a vacancy in a building he owned. He later found himself collaborating with his partners to create a unique new brand with appeal to car-lovers and foodies alike with its unique nostalgic style and timeless all-American menu.

Whether it’s the nostalgic atmosphere or the outstanding food, we know the great people of Richmond will find something to love about Ford’s Garage.

Steve Israel, Owner

“It’s been a joy to bring such a special concept to the state of Virginia, where members of my family call home,” said Israel. “Whether it’s the nostalgic atmosphere or the outstanding food, we know the great people of Richmond will find something to love about Ford’s Garage.” Israel’s family, including his son Jake and daughter Samantha, a Richmond resident, will be involved in the restaurant.

At Ford’s Garage, burgers play a starring role on the menu. Made with Black Angus beef, the burgers are served with all-natural aged cheeses, fresh toppings and flavorful sauces on artisan buns branded with the restaurant’s logo. They are also available in a vegetarian option. The satisfying selection includes the unique Burgers of Fame, a lineup of specialty burgers named after influential individuals and organizations in the community. Locals will recognize several names on the menu, like Eric D. English, Chief of Police for Henrico County and David Spears, Director of Operations for VCU. He is also excited to honor his grandkids, Leo and Noah Wetzel, with their own Burger of Fame as “Two Kids from Richmond.”

Diners can switch gears from burgers to classics, like homemade meatloaf, chicken wings and tenders, onion rings and macaroni & cheese. Fuel-efficient fare is also available, such as fresh salads, grilled chicken and various seafood options. Guests can top off their meal with milkshakes, sundaes and other sweet desserts. The restaurant serves wine, cocktails and non-alcoholic options as well as a large selection of beers, including drafts, with an emphasis on local breweries.

The new Ford’s Garage is located at 11275 West Broad Street in Short Pump and seats approximately 250 inside and outside on its patio. Opening Nov. 18, restaurant hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 am to 10 pm, Friday from 11 am to 11 pm, Saturday from 10:30 am to 11 pm and Sunday 10:30 am to 10 pm.
